Get Well Joey Bush

Hello, It has been to long since my last post. I hope there are still one or two people still following this blog. The pain for the most part has subsided and everything is starting to progress well. I use a walker when I am outside but try to use a cane when I am inside. I have been able to take a few steps on my own unassisted (not so pretty). I would like to thank everyone who has helped me and my family out in this tough time. When I woke up from the comma and my family showed me this website, I was amazed and touched by how many people were following my progress. It was awesome to read posts from friends and family. This experience has opened my eyes and made me appreciate everyone and everyday much much more. So once again thank you for everything. That is enough of the mushy stuff. I am hoping that my right ankle and foot are moving well enough to allow me to drive soon.  I am obviously hoping to get well enough to return to work, hopefully sooner than later. I would like to say how amazing Amy and the kids have been and would like to thank them for their love and patience. We are looking forward to summer and hanging out with friends. There are still talks about having a celebration party at some point, so I hope everyone will come out and have a drink with me when we figure out a date and location.This will be my last post, so I hope that everyone who reads this will write one last comment. You have no idea how much all of your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes mean to me. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY, IT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

    I know it has been awhile since my last writing. I had my manipulation and scope several weeks ago. I have been in a lot of pain however, I am just starting to manage the pain. Still going to therapy four days a week, other than that everything else is going well. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day and everyone is doing well. Thanks again for everything and I'll talk to you soon.

   Hello, I hope everyone is doing well. Happy Birthday to my brother Steve. I hope everyone is enjoying the Spring weather. I am recovering after the manipulation and knee scope. The doctor said that there would be minimal pain, he lied. I ended up spending the night at Lutheran due to the pain, I was released today.  Everything else is going great. I hope there is quite a bit of mobility gained from the procedure, the doctor suggests that I do the left knee within the next month. Thanks again for everything.

Hello, I am feeling real good and getting stronger by the day. I am going to therapy four days a week. The family is doing well and waiting for warmer weather. On April 19th the Orthopedic Surgeon will manipulate and scope my right knee. He will do my left knee about a month later. I appreciate everyones continued support and generosity. Have a great weekend and I hope everyone had a great holiday.

Hello, everything is going well. I have started out-patient therapy this week. I am finally out of the wheelchair and moved onto a walker. Everyday I am becoming a little more mobile. I have been able to get out and meet friends for lunch and dinner. after a dinner consisting of pizza,wings, and beers I needed a new wheelchair.

My knees are still only bending approximately 60 degrees. The Doc wants to perform a procedure where I will be unconscious and he will completely bend both of my knees to break up any scar tissue, and then do an orthopedic scope on my knees. This will allow me more flexibility in my knees, and hopefully get me walking faster. The only other issue is that I am unable to control my right leg. I can not lift or lower my leg without assistance. Now that I am bearing weight on my right leg, I hope to gain function of my leg. I am truly blessed and would like to thank everyone, especially my wife Amy, Katie, and Jake for such great care day after day.

Hello everyone, I saw my Orthopedic Surgeon this past Tuesday. He told me that everything looks great. I will be able to bear 50% of my weight on my right leg next Tuesday. In three weeks I will be able to bear 100% of my weight. Things are going great, and the family is doing well. I am looking forward to starting outpatient therapy next week. I will hopefully be going three times a week. I hope to see the upstairs of my house in a short while, and sleep in my own bed. Thanks again for all you have done. Have a safe and fun St. Patrick's Day, have a green beer for me.

Hello all, I am doing great and recovering well. Coming home was the best thing that could have happened for me. My in home therapist is doing a much better job than  I was getting at Ballard. The swelling in my right leg is starting to go down, and I am dropping a few of my medications. I have an appointment with my Orthopedic Surgeon on Tuesday, and I am hoping for good news. I have approx. 3 more weeks until I can bear weight on my right leg. I am waiting for this weather to break so I can fire up the BBQ. I hope everyone is doing well.

Hello all,

 I have been home for about a week and I guess things are going well, Amy has not asked for a divorce yet:) It is so great to be home with the family, I think the most exited family member to see me was Sam the dog:). It is a lot of work for everyone but well worth it. Amy has been incredible and patient in helping me. I know it is a lot of work for her and want her to know that I appreciate everything. The best part is that I get to be home for Katie's birthday tomorrow. I am just glad that I get to be here to see her turn eight years old.  I have a nurse come to the house twice a week and a physical therapist who comes three times a week. So far so good. Once again thank you for all your continued support and concern.

Home at last February 21

  Well at long last I broke out of my cell. I had help from my new nursing assistants  . I got discharged from the rehabilitation center on Saturday. So for now I will be receiving in home rehabilitation for approximately 4-1/2 weeks, until I can bear weight on my right leg. Once I can bear weight I will be going to out patient therapy. So no more mystery meat from the rehab center, just suspicious slop from home. Due to me leaving the center and the inclement weather coming I needed a new ride .  I would like to thank everyone for their continued support, especially the guys from D/R Services Unlimited for building my wheelchair ramp. It is great to be home. I had my first sleepover with Jake in a long time. He had me up at 8:00 A.M. playing Wii. Later in the day I went for my first "walk" around the neighborhood.   Hey everyone,   how are you doing? I am doing well. I got to go home again Sunday. It was great for a change of pace. Everyone is doing excellent. I am feeling great and getting stronger by the day . I am hoping to be home in 2-3 weeks. I have a few more obstacles that I have to overcome before Amy will let me come back to "her house".  So for now I will stay in my wonderful room at the "old folks home"      Thanks again for all your continued support.
